Information stored by the app
When you create a Binder, Plotava stores its name, authored Reports, imported and scanned pages, photos, silent videos you intentionally capture, sketches, Points, dimensions, markup, notes, signatures, optional location metadata, and export history in the app's private storage on your device. Dictated text and Recordings also remain on the device.
Plotava does not require an account for this local project workflow. The app does not upload this project content to a Plotava-operated cloud service.
Camera, photos, files, and location
- Camera and photo library: accessed only when you choose to capture, scan or import material. Field video capture does not record audio.
- Microphone and speech recognition: requested when you use Dictate on iPhone or iPad. Transcription runs on-device and an unsupported on-device session is not uploaded for cloud transcription. You can play or delete the retained Recordings.
- Files: accessed when you select a PDF, image, backup folder, or export destination.
- Location: requested only when you choose a location-related action, such as centering an aerial plan or attaching GPS accuracy to a field record.
You can deny or revoke these permissions in device settings. Existing projects remain available, but the related capture feature may be unavailable.
On-device text assistance
Tidy Text uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models on compatible Apple Intelligence devices running iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence enabled. It can refine dictated wording; the original words remain available to restore. Plotava does not send this text to a third-party AI service. Review assisted wording before relying on it.
Aerial imagery and place search
On iOS, address and landmark searches use Apple MapKit. Search text and the search region are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms. When you preview or create an aerial plan in supported U.S. coverage, map bounds are requested from public USDA NAIP or USGS imagery services. The resulting image is then saved into the local project. Plotava does not use those requests to create an advertising profile.
Purchases
Apple App Store or Google Play processes subscription purchases and restores. Plotava receives entitlement status needed to unlock additional projects; the stores handle payment credentials under their own privacy policies. Plotava does not receive your full payment-card number.
Backups, exports, and sharing
Your operating system may include app data in device or cloud backups according to your device settings. When you export a PDF, save a Binder Backup, or use the system share sheet, the copy is handled by the destination you choose. Share PDF + Recordings (.zip) includes recordings as separate audio files, not embedded PDF playback. Review the destination's privacy and retention practices before sharing sensitive information.
Website analytics, cookies, and cross-domain links
The Plotava website uses Google Analytics 4 and Plausible Analytics to understand website traffic and whether visitors use download links, play demos, open the sample Field Package, view pricing, or follow links between Plotava and Charged Alpha Studio. These services may receive the page URL, referral and campaign information, browser and device details, approximate region, and the interaction event.
Google Analytics uses first-party browser identifiers. Links between plotava.com and chargedalpha.com may include campaign parameters so each site can measure the referral within its own analytics property. Plausible is used for aggregate, cookie-free website measurement. Plotava does not send plans, photos, field measurements, notes, exported PDFs, or other app project content to either website analytics service.
The website does not use these analytics tools for behavioral advertising, and the Plotava app itself does not include third-party advertising SDKs or silent product analytics. You can limit analytics storage through browser privacy settings, content blockers, or cookie controls available in your browser.
Retention and deletion
Project data remains until you delete the project or uninstall the app, subject to copies in device backups or locations to which you exported it. Deleting a project removes its app-managed local files. A shared PDF or backup must be deleted from its destination separately.
Security
Plotava uses the operating system’s app sandbox and writes project manifests atomically with a local recovery copy. No method of storage is completely risk-free. Use device passcode protection and your organization’s approved sharing destinations for confidential records.
Children
Plotava is a general-purpose document-creation and documentation app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
